[35] tad evaṃ jñāta-rahasyo' pi nirṇīta-nīti-praṇītaye rahasi vraja-rājam upavrajya sa ca tat-pitṛ-vargaḥ pratisvam eva tam artham arthayāmāsa, [36] āmuṣyakulikā kalitā dhanyāḥ khalu tāḥ kanyāḥ kṛṣṇanyāsata eva sa-nyāyatām arhanti | sa yadi bhavadbhiḥ svayam aṅgīkriyate, tadā bhaṅgībhiḥ prasaṅgam aṅgīkriyatām asmābhir iti |

[35] Thus, although knowing the secret, that group of fathers approached the king of Vraja in private to settle the policy, and each pleaded the matter individually: [36] “Indeed, these blessed maidens of noble lineage deserve propriety only by being given in marriage to Kṛṣṇa. If you yourself accept it, then let us agree to this alliance by various expedients.”
