[71] Paurṇamāsī said: "That too will not endure, because the sages themselves will sing this again and again. There, to them inquiring in the [Gopāla-]Tāpanī, Durvāsas says: 'For he is your husband'; and in the context of the rāsa-dance, the venerable Bādarāyaṇi says: 'the wives of Kṛṣṇa'; and in the message through Uddhava, Śrī Kṛṣṇa himself says: 'The cowherd women are mine, their minds absorbed in me.' Thus, in: 'Go, gentle Uddhava, to Vraja; bring joy to our parents,' Śrī Kṛṣṇa's words, by expressing the sentiment of their being his beloveds to him, are like a brāhmaṇa's saying 'my brāhmaṇī wife' and so forth. Likewise, in: 'absorbed in me alone as their darling, their dearest self, with their mind,' by this and the subsequent half-verse, it is indicated that only through an external viewpoint is their status as paramour perceived there at times, while through the perpetual internal viewpoint his status as husband is indeed experienced; as also in: 'Ah, does our noble husband now abide in the city of Madhu?'
