keyaṃ jagaty ahaha rājati gopa-kanyā
dhanyā yayā tu karapīḍanam asya gantā? |
hā yogyatām api vidhāya vidhiḥ samastām
astaṃ nināya bata nas tam amūṃ dhig astu || [vasantatilakā]

"Ah, which cowherd maiden in the world shines so blessed / that she will indeed attain the taking of his hand in marriage? / Alas, after creating every qualification in us, / the Creator brought it to ruin—fie on him!"
