"indranīla-ruci-jīvanaṃ mahaḥ
svarṇa-varṇa-nikarākara-prabhā |
yac ca yā ca cayanaṃ tayor idaṃ
dvandvam ādi-rasa-sāra-kāraṇam || [rathoddhatā] iti |
"A radiance that is the very life of the sapphire's luster,
and a splendor that is a mine for heaps of golden hues—
that which is he and she who is she: this pair is an assembly [of beauty],
the ultimate source of the primary aesthetic rasa [śṛṅgāra]."
