samāgantā yarhi prathamam ṛtu-rājaḥ sakhi tadā
ṛtūnām anyāyaṃ bata kathayitāsmīti laṣitam |
tad āstām eṣa prāk para-bhṛta-śilīvaktra-tatibhir
vitarjann evāsmān akṛta-vṛjinā dhik praviśati || [śikhariṇī]

'O friend, when the king of seasons first arrives, I shall then
surely tell of the injustice of the seasons—so I had hoped!
Leave that aside; menacing us who have committed no wrong
with swarms of cuckoos and bees, fie! he enters ahead!' ||21.46
