[36] kṛṣṇas tu sa-hāsaṃ spaṣṭam idam abhyacaṣṭe-aho, śubhaṃyūyamānānām āsām ahaṃyutā bhavatīnāṃ bhavatu, paśyāmas tatra-bhavatīṣu devatā-prabhāvam | yāvad eva tad etam udavāsam urīkṛtya bhavatyas tiṣṭhanti, tāvad vayam api dhṛta-niṣṭhās taror upariṣṭād eva nabho-vāsam urarīkṛtya tiṣṭhāma |

Kṛṣṇa, however, clearly declared with a laugh: “Aha! Let there be pride in you who are becoming fortunate; let us see the power of the goddess in your ladyships! As long as you remain accepting this dwelling in the water, so long shall we also remain right upon the tree, having resolved upon dwelling in the sky!”
