[51] kṛṣṇas tu gūḍham api smitam agūḍha | samūḍha-priya-vadyatayāpy avādīt-hanta, nahi nahi, yasmād vrata-kṛśatayā bhṛśa-dayā-viṣayā eva yūyam, na tu dūyamānatām arhatha |

Kṛṣṇa, however, revealed his smile, though hidden. With an assumed manner of sweet speech, he also said: “Alas, no, no! Since you are the objects of great compassion because of being emaciated from vows, you do not deserve to suffer.”
