atha kṛṣṇāya tṛṣṇāṃ te dadhur vṛṣṇi-pura-dvijāḥ |
kintu dhṛṣṇak kaṃsa-bhiyā nājagmuḥ kṛṣṇam īkṣitum ||

Then those brāhmaṇas of Mathurā felt a thirst for Kṛṣṇa;
yet, terrified of Kaṃsa, they did not dare to go and see Kṛṣṇa.
