"The lamp is the moon, fully swollen in autumn; where Vṛndāvana is the stage; and you yourselves are these heroines of glorious Vraja, skilled in the arts. Arrived at such an occasion as this, I, delighted Hari, what else shall I do for a moment—and without that rāsa, O beloveds?" [3]
Thus, the moon who had arisen from the ocean of Vraja, destroying the deepest darkness, having made all those partridge-eyed maidens targets of hundreds of thousands of joys by embracing them all simultaneously without six eyes [that is, not as a third party looking on, but directly], having deeply honoured them, and having occupied the pleasant bank of the sun's daughter, free of mud, free of thickets, and not uneven, for the performance of the rāsa-dance, formed them into the shape of a circle by joining their hands together.
