Then, flowing like rivulets with sweat born of fatigue from their revels, the fair maidens approached the daughter of the sun along with Hari. / Since that river received these countless hundreds of women, she instantly attained an abundant and charming fullness of water. ||1
“Transgressing their proper bounds, the dark youth and his dark maidens have come to me!”—thinking thus, as it were, the dark Yamunā quickly overflowed her banks. ||2
[2] Then, looking like lightning amidst dense clouds by virtue of the radiance of their limbs, and echoing like thunder and the calls of cāṭaka birds through their speech, that assembly of beauties and the lord of beauty shone, like the splendor of the monsoon season, as it plunged hand-in-hand into the current of the daughter of the sun, as if into the sky.
The soft murmur of mutual laughter, the pulling [of one another], the trembling of limbs frozen again and again, and the onset of intense quivering—that which occurred before their plunge into the water was indeed an inference that the splendor of [Kṛṣṇa] had arisen. ||3
When the arched-browed maidens did not enter the water, they were so thoroughly sprinkled together by him that they thought him swift-footed, as if a rain-cloud, swelling large, was advancing upon them. ||4
From the water, he who bestows dense joy drenched them intensely in this manner; and afflicted by those arrows of torrential spray, they entered into the very water. ||5
Then, submerged waist-deep in the water, those restless-eyed maidens, resembling the females of the spotted deer, ceased their forward movement. ||6
When the shoals of fish, mingled with the reflections of their eyes, could in no way be distinguished repeatedly, then, as if bound by rivalry, gently and intensely touching the timid maidens at every moment, they brought amusement to the eyes of Murahara. ||7
Because the swans approached their gaits, the cakravāka birds their breasts, the fish their eyes, and the cranes their girdles and then withdrew, their empire was fully established on every side. ||8
The assembly of their faces truly shone, surpassing the lotuses; / is superiority over one's own kind ever rejected, or what indeed was the cause? ||9
