yadā rāsād vāsaṃ rahasi yayur ābhīra-vanitās
tadā śaṅkāṃ jagmuḥ svayam api tu nāsāṃ gṛha-janāḥ | yad anyās tad-rūpā vyadhita hari-māyā prati-gṛhaṃ
yathāmībhir jñātaṃ nivavṛtira etāḥ patha iti || [2] atha tad-anantara-rātri-santatīr nānā-rasa-rāsa-vilāsādibhir ativāhayati śrī-govinde vṛndā tu vividha-sāhāyakaṃ samāharati sma, yathā-
When the cowherd women went secretly from the rāsa-dance to their home, / they themselves felt fear, but their household members did not. / For Hari's māyā produced other forms identical to them in every house, / so that they thought, 'These women have returned from the road.' //
[2] Then, as glorious Govinda spent the succession of subsequent nights in pastimes such as the rāsa-dance of manifold rasas, Vṛndā provided diverse assistance, as follows:
