[37] dūtī sa-hāsam uvāca-nūnaṃ bhavatāṃ dūtaḥ so' yam agrata eva vyagratām avāpa | yan māmatra ruddhann eva tatra jigamiṣati | tasmān na mādṛg iva niḥśaṅkaṃ so' yam iti bhavatāṃ kalaṅkāya paraṃ pratipatsyate | yuktam eva ca tat-tad-āvayoḥ | svāmi-guṇā hi parijanam anuyanti |

[37] The messenger laughed and said: 'Truly, this messenger of yours has become bewildered at the very outset, since he wishes to go there only while keeping me detained here! Therefore, he will certainly bring only disgrace upon you, as he is not fearless like me. And that is quite fitting for both of us, for the qualities of the master follow the servant.'
