"Having prepared a couch of spread [creepers] for us to climb upon, and having arranged our words in support, O friend, when he reached the middle of the river,
demanding the crossing-fare difficult to pay and blocking the boat,
what manifold crooked arts did that hand-marked-with-the-discus not perform?" [53] Thus, having realized the multitude of his desires and set out for home as he wished, conversing about his deeds with his friends, and once again adorned with bathing and the like, right there on some riverbank, once near the Yamunā, gathering the herd of cows crowded together to drink water and manifesting them group by group through gradual counting, he sang, his purpose fulfilled by the contemplation of them.
