tā etā manasā dṛśā kalitam apy atrāsitaṃ bālakaṃ
sandehāspadatām anaiṣur asakṛd yat tat tu yogyaṃ matam |
yad vastu prathitaṃ sudurlabhatayā tad daivato labhyatāṃ
kintv etat prathamaṃ pratīti-padavīṃ nātmany alaṃ yacchati ||

Although the child resting there was grasped by mind and eye, / they repeatedly turned him into an object of doubt, which is deemed quite natural; / for though an object renowned as exceedingly hard to obtain may be gained by providence, / it does not at first sufficiently yield the status of certainty within one's mind.
