tādṛśatāṃ bhṛśam avidvān kīṭaka iva kṛpīṭa-yonim |
abhiyāya cābhiyā mathurāṃ mathnann ivāvariṣyati ||tataś ca-
indv-arka-dyota-keliṃ kutuka-kalanayā nirmimāṇāv adhṛṣyau
jārāsandhaṃ tad-andhaṃ tama iva kaṭakaṃ troṭayantau bhavantau |
ekaṃ taṃ māgadheśaṃ tama iva ghṛṇayā bāḍham utsṛjya parva-
prāptaṃ sarvaṃ sva-bhaktaṃ sva-mahasi dadhatau bhāsyataḥ śaśvad eva ||

Entirely ignorant of your true nature, like an insect flying into fire, / he will march forth and, fearless, surround Mathurā as if churning it. / And then: / Playfully enacting the game of the moon and the sun, invincible, / smashing that army of Jarāsandha, blind like darkness, / thoroughly sparing that ruler of Magadha alone out of contempt, like darkness, / and establishing all your devotees who have reached this turning point within your own splendor, the two of you will shine eternally.'
