dhig asmān yāḥ kaṃsād bhayam anusṛtā nāma ca hareḥ
samarthā vaktuṃ na vraja-vara-dṛśas tāḥ kati numaḥ |
sadā yā gāyanti sva-gṛha-bahu-karmaṇy api guṇāṃs
tadīyān śaśvat tad dhṛdi ca viharanti pratipadam || (śikhariṇī)

Fie on us who, overcome by fear of Kaṃsa, / are not able even to speak the name of Hari! How can we praise those deer-eyed women of Vraja / who constantly sing his virtues even amid their many household chores, / and ever sport with him in their hearts at every step?
