[22] atha spaṣṭaṃ sa-smitam ācaṣṭa,- kathaṃ te svayam api kāraṇam avatārayeyuḥ ? avatārite tu tasmin vasudevenāpahṛtāpatyasya go-paty adipasya nyāyaḥ satyaḥ syād iti | bhavatu, vraja-patinā tatra kiṃ pratipannam ?

[22] Then he clearly said with a smile: "How could they themselves bring forward the motive? For if it were brought forward, the maxim of the cowherd king whose child was stolen by Vasudeva would become true! Be that as it may, what did the lord of Vraja conclude on that point?"
