[48] Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: “Even though My manifestation in them as well would dispel their burning grief, still I shall make another arrangement to soothe their external senses. For their primary concern is catching My scent and hearing My sounds; looking at My form is merely secondary to that. Therefore, let this Stoka-kṛṣṇa wrap himself in garments infused with the faint fragrance of My accustomed perfume and play on My flute; likewise, let Subala drape himself in Balarāma's garments and play on his horn, and let them walk into their midst. Then, these [boys] of Mine, who are storehouses of all virtues, will act as deputies for the two of us, whereby those fortunate woodland creatures—the deer, the mountains, and so forth, who are worthy of all honor—will attain the fullness of My manifestation; thus everything will be fully resolved.”
