[35] Then, intending to embark on his journey as a traveler to Mathurā, the king of the glorious Gokula clan appointed his elder brother and others as his representatives in various duties. As he departed, he thought within himself: "Alas, although my mind bears an equal bond of affection in kinship toward friend and foe alike, it is forcibly and vehemently drawn toward that newborn child, by whom even my drinking of life's hope desires no limit. Now I am journeying near that wicked man [Kaṃsa], and I cannot foresee what will happen. Therefore, to dispel my agitation, I shall go to the abode of the Yadus only after gazing and gazing upon that child."
