vatse śyāma pitā tavāyam ayituṃ rājñaḥ puraṃ tvat-kṛtā-
nujñāṃ prārthayate tato vitaratād" ity eṣa dhātrīritaḥ |
āścaryātula-bāla-bhāva-balād babhre smitaṃ tena ca
śrīmān gopa-janādhipaḥ pracita-dhīḥ prasthānam āsedivān || [śārdūla]

"My dear child Śyāma, this father of yours, wishing to go to the king's city, / begs your permission; therefore grant it!"—thus prompted by the nurse, / through the power of his wondrous, matchless infant mood, a smile was borne by him; / and with an elevated mind, the glorious lord of the cowherds departed. ||13
