āvirbhavat-kaṭakaṭe śakaṭe' tha sarve
kiṃ kiṃ kim ity abhita eva bhiyābhiyātāḥ |
tasyātipātam avalokya vilokya tokaṃ
krandad-vimūḍha-matitātatimūḍhavantaḥ || [vasantatilaka]

Then, as the cart began to creak and rattle loudly,
everyone rushed up from all sides in terror, crying, “What is it? What is it? What is it?”
Seeing it overturned, and then seeing the boy,
their minds, bewildered by crying, were utterly stunned.
