[53] atha madhukaṇṭhaś cintayāmāsa, "tasmān nandātmajas te yad api hari-samaḥ" iti yad uktam, tat tu yuktam eva, nārāyaṇa-samo guṇaiḥ [BhP 10.8.19] iti hi śrīmad-bhāgavata-sthaṃ tad vākyam apīdṛśaṃ dṛśyate, tat-puruṣa-bahuvrīhibhyāṃ śliṣṭatvād asyādhikatvaṃ ca lakṣyate iti | [54] prakaṭaṃ covāca-nanu nāma-karaṇaṃ viśiṣya na proktam anna-prāśanaṃ tu na kiñcid apīti | tac ca tac ca stūyamānatayā prastūyatām |

[53] Then Madhukaṇṭha thought, "What was said—'therefore, though your son, O Nanda, is equal to Hari'—is quite fitting. For that statement found in the glorious Bhāgavata is seen to be of the same kind: 'equal to Nārāyaṇa in virtues' (BhP 10.8.19); and through the double meaning of tatpuruṣa and bahuvrīhi compounds, his superiority also is indicated." [54] And he said openly: "Now, the naming ceremony was not described in detail, and the first feeding of grain not at all. Let both of those be introduced with praise!"
