[40] suta uvāca-ayam apy etad-gaṇa-pātīti tathānyedyur mṛttikām atti sma, tad avadyaṃ nivedayitum udyataṃ mad-vacanaṃ mṛṣodyatām āsādayitum iti |

[40] The son said: "He too belongs to their group, and so on another day he ate dirt; and in order to make my words appear false when I stood ready to report that misdeed, [he says this]!"
