[8] madhukaṇṭha uvāca-kim ittham āttha? tāvan-mātrāya tasyāḥ kathaṃ kṣut-kṣāma-gātrād bāla-putrād anyatra yātrā yukti-pātrāyatām? sā hi vatsa-vatsalānām acchatā-bhāg-upamā |

Madhukaṇṭha said: Why do you speak thus? For the sake of so little, how could her departure away from her infant son whose body was emaciated by hunger become fitting and justified? For she is the pristine standard of comparison for those who are affectionate toward their children.
