vaṣṭi ced bata bhavān gṛha-muṣṭiṃ
yaṣṭim ākalaya mat-kara-mṛṣṭām |
ittham uccakitite kamalākṣe
tāṃ jahau nijajahau vraja-rājñī || [svāgatā]

"If, alas, you desire stealing fists full of household goods,
behold this stick wielded by my hand!"
When the lotus-eyed boy became startled thus,
the queen of Vraja dropped her own stick. ||
