madhye rājñaḥ sadma tat-pārśvatas tad-
bhrātṝṇāṃ tad-bāhyatas tat pareṣām |
yadvat premaṇy antaraṅgādi-rītir
vāse' pi syād aucitī tadvad eva || [śālinī]

In the middle was the house of the king, beside it that of his brothers, / and beyond that, those of the others; / just as there is an order of intimacy and so forth in love, / exactly so is the propriety even in their dwelling.
