Then, by the command of the lotus-born [Brahmā], viewing the deeds of Rāma with his inward vision / as clearly as a myrobalan fruit in the hand, / the great sage, the guide to the path of honey-sweet utterances, / composed the auspicious and delightful courtly poetry called the Rāmāyaṇa. (8)
