vaiśyaiva bhāryyā vaiśyasya śūdrā śūdrasya kīrttitā /
brāhmaṇo nodvahet kanyāmasavarṇāṃ kadācana //

Only a Vaiśya woman is proclaimed as wife for a Vaiśya, and a Śūdra woman for a Śūdra; / a Brahmin must never marry a woman not of his own class.
