tām atha manmatha-khinnāṃ rati-rasa-bhinnāṃ viṣāda-sampannām |
anucintita-hari-caritāṃ kalahāntaritām uvāca rahasi sakhī ||
Then, to her who was distressed by love, bereft of the aesthetic flavor of amorous pleasure, filled with sorrow,
continually brooding on Hari's actions, and separated [from her lover] by a quarrel,
her confidante spoke in secret:

Sung in the melodic mode Gurjarī and the rhythmic meter Yati.
1.9.2
harir abhisarati vahati madhu-pavane |
kim aparam adhika-sukhaṃ sakhi bhavane ||
Hari comes to the rendezvous while the spring breeze blows;
what greater happiness, O confidante, is there in the house?
1.9.2.p1
mādhave mā kuru mānini mānam aye || dhruva-padam ||
O proud woman, do not nurse pride against Mādhava! // Refrain
1.9.3
tāla-phalād api gurum atisarasam |
kiṃ viphalī-kuruṣe kuca-kalaśam ||
Why do you make the pitcher of your breast in vain,
heavier and far more luscious than a palm fruit?
1.9.4
kati na kathitam idam anupadam aciram |
mā parihara harim atīśaya-ruciram ||
How many times have I not told you this repeatedly and just now?
Do not reject Hari, who is exceedingly charming!
1.9.5
kim iti viṣīdasi rodiṣi vikalā |
vihasati yuvatī-sabhā tava sakalā ||
Why do you grieve and weep in agitation?
The whole gathering of young women is laughing at you!
1.9.6
sajala-nalinī-dala-śīlita-śayane |
NOTE: {śītala-}
harim avalokaya saphalaya nayane ||
On the bed strewn with moist lotus petals,
look upon Hari and make your eyes fruitful!
1.9.7
janayasi manasi kim iti guru-khedam |
śṛṇu mama vacanam anīhita-bhedam ||
Why do you bring great anguish upon your mind?
Listen to my words, free from any intent to cause dissension!
1.9.8
harir upayātu vadatu bahu-madhuram |
kim iti karoṣi hṛdayam atividhuram ||
Let Hari approach and speak many sweet words;
why do you make your heart so distraught?
1.9.9
śrī-jayadeva-bhaṇitam atilalitaṃ |
sukhayatu rasika-janaṃ hari-caritaṃ ||
Spoken by Śrī Jayadeva, exceedingly charming,
may this deed of Hari delight connoisseurs!
1.9.10
snigdhe yat paruṣāsi praṇamati stabdhāsi yad rāgiṇi dveṣa-sthāsi yad unmukhe vimukhatāṃ yātāsi tasmin priye |
tad yuktaṃ viparīta-kāriṇi tava śrīkhaṇḍa-carcā viṣaṃ śītāṃśus tapano himaṃ hutavahaḥ krīḍā-mudo yātanāḥ ||
Because you are harsh to one who is affectionate, stiff to one who bows down, filled with hatred toward one who is in love,
and turned away from that beloved when he gazes up at you,
it is only fitting, perverse woman, that sandalwood paste is poison to you, the moon the sun, snow fire, and the pleasures of play torment!
1.9.11
sāndrānanda-purandarādi-diviṣad-vṛndair amandādarād ānamrair mukuṭendra-nīla-maṇibhiḥ sandarśitendindiram |
svacchandaṃ makaranda-sundara-galan-mandākinī-meduraṃ śrī-govinda-padāravindam aśubha-skandāya vandāmahe ||
We bow, for the destruction of evil, to Śrī Govinda's lotus foot,
which reveals black bees by means of the sapphire gems in the diadems of bowed gods, Purandara and others, full of intense bliss and deep reverence,
and which is freely rich with the Mandākinī river streaming beautiful nectar.
