Then, to her who was distressed by love, bereft of the aesthetic flavor of amorous pleasure, filled with sorrow,

|| Lyric Composition 18
1.9.1.p2
Sung in the melodic mode Gurjarī and the rhythmic meter Yati.
1.9.2
Hari comes to the rendezvous while the spring breeze blows;
what greater happiness, O confidante, is there in the house?
1.9.2.p1
O proud woman, do not nurse pride against Mādhava! // Refrain
1.9.3
Why do you make the pitcher of your breast in vain,
heavier and far more luscious than a palm fruit?
1.9.4
How many times have I not told you this repeatedly and just now?
Do not reject Hari, who is exceedingly charming!
1.9.5
Why do you grieve and weep in agitation?
The whole gathering of young women is laughing at you!
1.9.6
On the bed strewn with moist lotus petals,
look upon Hari and make your eyes fruitful!
1.9.7
Why do you bring great anguish upon your mind?
Listen to my words, free from any intent to cause dissension!
1.9.8
Let Hari approach and speak many sweet words;
why do you make your heart so distraught?
1.9.9
Spoken by Śrī Jayadeva, exceedingly charming,
may this deed of Hari delight connoisseurs!
1.9.10

1.9.11
We bow, for the destruction of evil, to Śrī Govinda's lotus foot,
which reveals black bees by means of the sapphire gems in the diadems of bowed gods, Purandara and others, full of intense bliss and deep reverence,
and which is freely rich with the Mandākinī river streaming beautiful nectar.
