tāvad āśrīyate lakṣmyā tāvad asya sthiraṃ yaśaḥ
puruṣas tāvad evāsau yāvan mānān na hīyate //
Royal fortune resorts to him, and his fame remains steadfast, / and he is truly a man only so long as he does not fall from self-respect.
