icchatāṃ saha vadhūbhir abhedaṃ yāminīvirahiṇāṃ vihagānām
āpur eva mithunāni viyogaṃ laṅghyate na khalu kālaniyogaḥ //
Even when the bird came close and addressed sweet words toward its mate,
the lotus was brought down, its joy abandoned, like the face of the lotus-plant.
