gataṃ tiraścīnamanūrusāradheḥ prasiddhamūrdhvajvalanaṃ havirbhujaḥ /
patatyadho dhāma visāri sarvataḥ kimedatityākulamīkṣitaṃ janaiḥ //

"The course of the thighless charioteer's [chariot] goes obliquely; the upward blazing of the fire is well known; / but this splendour falls downward, spreading everywhere—what is it?" Thus people watched in bewilderment.
