hastasthitākhaṇḍitacakraśālinaṃ dvajendrakāntaṃ śritavakṣasaṃ śriyā /
satyānuraktaṃ narakasya jiṣṇavo guṇairnṛpāḥ śāṅgiṇamanyayāsiṣuḥ //

The kings, victorious over Hell [as Kṛṣṇa was over Naraka],
pursued by their virtues the Wielder of the Śārṅga Bow—
he who held unbroken mastery over the realm with his hand [as the Discus in his hand],
who was beloved of the lord among birds [and foremost of kings],
whose chest was embraced by royal fortune [and by Śrī],
and who was devoted to truth [and to Satyabhāmā].
