2.34

admo dvijān, devayajīn nihanmaḥ, kurmaḥ puraṃ preta-narā'dhivāsam,
dharmo hyayaṃ dāśarathe ! nijo no, naivā'dhyakāriṣmahi veda-vṛtte.

We devour brahmins, we slay the sacrificers to the gods, we make the city the abode of deceased men;
for this is our own duty, O son of Daśaratha! We have never been qualified for the Vedic way of life.”
