pratīya sā pūr dadṛśe janena dyaur bhānu-śītāṃśu-vinākṛteva
rājanya-nakṣatra-samanvitā 'pi śokā'ndhakāra-kṣata-sarva-ceṣṭā.

Upon his return, that city was seen by the people as like the sky deprived of the sun and the cool-rayed moon, / though filled with constellations of nobles, its every activity halted by the darkness of grief.
