asti svastimatāṃ vilāsavasatiḥ sambhogabhaṅgībhuvaḥ
keliprāṅgaṇamaṅganākulagurordevasya śṛṅgāriṇaḥ .
kaśmīreṣu puraṃ paraṃ pravaratālabdhābhidhāviśrutaṃ
saubhāgyābharaṇaṃ mahīvaratanoḥ saṅketasadma śriyaḥ ..4..

In Kashmir there is an exalted city, renowned by a name obtained from its pre-eminence, / an abode of coquetry for the prosperous, a land of variations in sensual enjoyment, / a playground of the god of erotic love, the master of womenfolk, / an ornament of good fortune for the earth's excellent form, a rendezvous house of wealth.
