4.90

vidvadbhiḥ parivāritāḥ saguṇatāmāyānti vittairnarāḥ
śūratvaṃ subhataiḥ kulonnatataraiḥ prakhyātasadvaṃśatām .
tasmādvittasamāśraye guṇagaṇe vitte ca nānyāśraye
vittaṃ vittamananyacittaniyatāḥ sampannimittaṃ numaḥ ..90..

Surrounded by scholars, men attain virtue through wealth;
valour through brave warriors, and high renown of noble lineage through those of loftier family.
Therefore, since the host of virtues depends on wealth, and wealth depends on nothing else,
with minds fixed on nothing else we praise wealth, the source of prosperity.
