O Devī, steadfast, unwavering meditation—devotion—upon you, the all-pervading one, in your realm, gradually according to prescribed rule, wholly nourishes, strengthens, exalts [the soul], the master of the body, within the body, which is other than steadfast, extremely perishable. The meaning is: in this impermanent transmigratory cycle, devotion to you alone is the essence. 60.

You struck down the glory of the merciless through battle, destroying their great fortune;
protect the lord, the steadfast maker of supreme elevations, by disregarding the pitiless! 61.
(A yamaka repeating whole quarter-verses [pādābhyāsa-yamaka])
Those who do not show mercy [a-dayāḥ], who are violent—the splendor of those merciless ones, you, O wonder, struck down through battle, by disregarding, scorning the pitiless. Cruelly, through violence, in battle, by destroying the limits of great fortunes, producing boundless bliss, protect the lord [ina], the master, who is the steadying force, the producer of steadfastness, of those endowed with great elevations—great, vast raisings [udaya], knowledge, or favorable destiny; the meaning is: protect the lord who grants steadfastness to those possessing great knowledge. 61.

That good is not attained here by bathing in sacred fords,
which, O Ambikā, is attained by people who bow, through service to your sacred scriptures. 62.
