64

O Devī, by your grace, through your causation, this person, mankind, attains the practice of speech that has substance—that speech, utterance, which is substantial, foremost, being intent upon that; that is, he attains the form of Paśyantī. For among the triad of speech, Paśyantī is foremost. And thus it has been said: “Undifferentiated, however, is Paśyantī, having all sequence withdrawn everywhere; it is the light of its own nature within, subtle, imperishable speech.” At what time? When delusion goes to destruction, ceases. Delusion of what sort? That which is extremely intense, like the weight of a burden to one who lacks strength, which is a cause of fatigue; that is, producing weariness over sense-objects.
Those spotless utterances of the virtuous, brightened by the power of the śāstras,
are your darkness-dispelling weapons, O Mother, mocking their own luster. 64.
