vāsudeva uvāca
brāhmaṇārthe madarthe ca kuru sāgara madvacaḥ
mām ṛte na pumān kaścid anyas tvāṃ dharṣayiṣyati //
Vāsudeva said: / 'For the sake of the brahmin and for my sake, O Ocean, carry out my word. / Except for me, no other man will violate you.'
