balenāyaṃ hato daityo bālenākliṣṭakarmaṇā
vicaranty aśarīriṇyo vācaḥ surasamīritāḥ |
baladeveti nāmasya devaiś coktaṃ divi sthitaiḥ //
"This Daitya was slain by strength, by a boy unwearied in deeds!"
Bodiless voices uttered by the gods rang out,
and the name "Baladeva" was given to him by the gods standing in the sky.
