śyāmavarṇaṃ tu tadrūpaṃ saṃjñā dṛṣṭvā vivasvataḥ
asahantī tu svāṃ chāyāṃ savarṇāṃ nirmame tataḥ
māyāmayī tu sā saṃjñā tasyāś chāyā samutthitā //
Seeing that dark-colored form of Vivasvat, / and unable to endure it, Saṃjñā then created her own shadow of like appearance. / That Saṃjñā made of illusion arose as her shadow.
