vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
vṛṣṇīnām andhakānāṃ ca gurur gārgyo mahātapāḥ
brahmacārī purā bhūtvā na sma dārān sa vindati //
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: / “The spiritual teacher of the Vṛṣṇis and Andhakas was Gārgya of great ascetic heat; / having formerly been a chaste student, he did not take a wife.
