yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |
yadidaṃ tapa ityāhurupavāsaṃ pṛthagjanāḥ |
tapaḥ syādetadiha vai tapo'nyadvāpi kiṃ bhavet || 3 ||
"Yudhishthira said, 'Some people say that fast is a penance. Is penance really identifiable with fast or is it not so? Tell me this, O grandsire!'
