sūtrādhāraḥ---sāhu cuṇṇagoṭṭha! sāhu. (sādhu cūrṇagoṣṭha! sādhu.)
naṭī---jai ayyassa aṇuggaho, tado iccheaṃ amhārisajaṇajoggaṃ kaṃci bamhaṇaṃ nimanteduṃ. (yadyāryasyānugrahaḥ, tata iccheyamasmāddaśajanayogyaṃ kañcid brāhmaṇaṃ nimantrayitum.)
sūtrādhāraḥ---dhammiṭṭho khu ṇioo . teṇa pādarāso vi me bhavissadi . jai evvaṃ, pavisadu ayyā . ahaṃ vi amhārisajaṇajoggaṃ kaṃci bamhaṇaṃ aṇṇesāmi . (dharmiṣṭhaḥ khalu niyogaḥ. tena prātarāśo'pi me bhaviṣyati . yadyevaṃ praviśatvāryā . ahamapyasmādṛśajanayogyaṃ kañcid brāhmaṇamanveṣe.)
naṭī---jaṃ ayyo āṇavedī. (niṣkrāntā) (yadārya ājñāpayati.)
sūtrādhāraḥ---kahi ṇṇu khu dariddabamhaṇaṃ labheaṃ . (vilokya) eso ayya cārudattassa vaasso ayyametteo ṇāma bamhaṇo ido evva āacchadi . jāba uvaṇimantemi. (parikramya) ayya! ṇimantido si. āmantaṇassa mā daridda tti maṃ avamaṇṇehi. sampaṇaṃ ahṇidavvaṃ bhavissadi. ghidaṃ gulaṃ dahiṃ taṇḍulā a savvaṃ atthi . avi a dakkhiṇāmāsaāṇi bhavissanti. (kutra nu khalu daridrabrāhmaṇaṃ labheya. eṣa āryacārudattasya vayasya āryamaitreyo nāma brāhmaṇa ita evāgacchati . yāvadupanimantrayāmi. ārya! nimantrito'si. āmantraṇasya mā daridra iti māmavamanyasva. sampannamaśitavyaṃ bhaviṣyati. ghṛtaṃ guḍo dadhi taṇḍulāśca sarvamasti api ca dakṣiṇāmāṣakā bhaviṣyanti.)

Stage Director: A righteous duty indeed! By that means I too will have breakfast. If so, let the noble lady enter. I too shall search for a Brahmin suitable for people like us.
Actress: As the noble sir commands. (Exit)
Stage Director: Where now might I find a poor Brahmin? (Looking around) Here comes the noble Cārudatta's friend, the Brahmin named the noble Maitreya, straight this way! Let me invite him. (Walking around) Noble sir, you are invited! Do not despise me on account of the invitation, thinking, 'He is poor.' The food will be excellent. Ghee, molasses, curd, and rice—everything is there; and moreover, there will be gold coins as sacrificial fees!
