saṃdaṣṭasukumaśayanāny āśuktāntabisabhaṅgasurabhīṇi /
guruparitāpāni na te gātrāṇy upacāram arhanti //
ana itaḥ śilātalaikadeśam alaṃkarotu vayasyaḥ /
(rājopaviśati / śakuntalā salajjā tiṣṭhati)
pri dvayor api yuvayor anyonyānurāgaḥ pratyakṣaḥ / sakhīsnehaḥ punar māṃ punar uktavādinīṃ karoti /
rājā bhadre naitat parhāryam / vivakṣitaṃ hy anuktam anutāpaṃ janayati /

Move not to do me homage; let thy limbs
Still softly rest upon their flowery couch;
And gather fragrance from the lotus-stalks,
Bruised by the fevered contact of thy frame.
