devī . 1diṭhṭhiā parīkhakārāhaṇeṇa ajjo vaḍhḍhai .
gaṇa 0 . devīparigrahaśca me vṛddhihetuḥ . vidūṣakaṃ vilokya . gautama vadedānīṃ yatte manasi vartate .
vidūṣakaḥ . 2puḍhamovadesadaṃsaṇe puḍhamaṃ bamhaṇassa pūā ichchidavvā . sā uṇa vo visumaridā .
1. diṣṭyā parīkṣakārādhanenāryo vardhate .
2. prathamopadeśādarśane prathamaṃ brāhmaṇasya pūjeṣṭavyā . tasyāḥ punaryūyaṃ vismṛtavantaḥ .

Queen: Fortunately the noble sir prospers through winning the approval of the judge.
Gaṇadāsa: And the queen's patronage is the cause of my prosperity. [Looking at the Vidūṣaka] Gautama, speak now what is on your mind.
Vidūṣaka: At the first display of instruction, the worship of a Brahmin ought first to be desired; but you have forgotten that!
