1. irāvatīmatikrāmantī bhava .
2. śrutamatyāhitam . bhujaṃgabhīrukaṃ brahmabandhumanena bhujaṃgakuṭilenātmano daṇḍakāṣṭhena stambhāntaritā bhīṣayāmi .
3. arhati kila kitava upadravam .
4. api hā api hā . nanu darvīkaro mamopari patitaḥ .
5. bhartarmā tāvatsahasā niṣkrama . sarva iti bhaṇati .
6. hā dhik hā dhik . bharteta eva dhāvati .

1. [Sanskrit chāyā:] Surpass Irāvatī!
2. Did you hear the dreadful thing? Hidden behind a pillar, I will frighten this wretched brahmin, who is terrified of snakes, with this curved walking-stick of mine shaped like a serpent.
3. The rogue indeed deserves trouble.
4. Oh, alas! A cobra has fallen upon me!
5. Master, do not go out so suddenly! He says it is a snake!
6. Alas, alas! The master is running in this very direction!
