Standing on tiptoe, repeatedly bent down by the weight of her breasts, / entering the path of Śambhu’s three longing eyes during his worship, / bashful, her hands placed on her head trembling with bristling hair and sweat, / may the scattered flower offering thrown by Girijā protect you! (1.1)
And further:
Impelled to haste by eagerness, turned back by natural bashfulness, / brought face to face again by various words of her kinswomen, / seeing the bridegroom before her, overtaken by a tremor of fear at their first union, / her hair bristling, embraced by smiling Hara—may Gaurī bring you welfare! (1.2)
And further:
By three glances blazing with wrath, these three sacred fires too were extinguished; / terrified, the priests fall down, their turbans snatched away by the nimble gaṇas; / Dakṣa praises, his wife laments piteously, and the gods have fled— / laughing aloud as he declared this in the destruction of the sacrifice, may Śiva protect you for the Queen! (1.3)
And further:
Victory to the lord of the stars! Salutation to the gods! / May the foremost among the twice-born be free from affliction! / And may the earth abound in grain; / may the moon of monarchs shine forth, radiant like the moon! (1.4)
